Dear NLU Community,

Tune in Monday, October 3 as Wytress Richardson, associate professor in NLU's social and behavioral sciences program, appears on "Good Day Chicago" at 7:45 a.m. on WFLD-TV Channel 32 for a brief segment.

Since October is National Bullying Prevention Month, Richardson will talk about how girls from approximately age 10 through high school are affected, sometimes very painfully, by girl cliques. Both the "mean girls" doing the bullying and the girls victimized by cliques are motivated by the desire to fit in and be liked as they transition from the familiar ground of childhood to the unknowns of young adulthood, Richardson says.

You’re also invited to visit www.nl.edu/cliques<http://www.nl.edu/mediaresources/cliques/> to view Richardson’s list of "Five Signs a Clique is Making Your Girl Miserable." It advises parents on what to watch for and how they can support their daughters, nieces and other girls in their lives. Please feel free to share it widely, by email, social media or other means.
