RE: Academic Alert: AA#2015-28 Wisconsin Teachout of Med and EdS in Administration and Supervision and EdD in Educational Leadership

The following academic alert has been posted. Please read for details.

Academic Alert(s):

AA#2015-28 Wisconsin Teachout of MEd and EdS in Administration and Supervision and EdD in Educational Leadership

RATIONALE: At its March 11, 2015 regular meeting, the National Louis University (NLU) Board of Trustees received and considered evidence related to the declining long-term sustainability of the NLU Wisconsin Campus, which has continuously offered NLU academic programs in Milwaukee and proximate parts of Wisconsin since 1980. In light of evidence of declining NLU Wisconsin campus enrollments and a costly new regional accreditation requirement imposed by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI), NLU's Board of Trustees empowered NLU President Nivine Megahed to make a decision regarding continuation or closure of the NLU Wisconsin Campus facility. On June 1, 2015 President Megahed communicated her decision to close the NLU Wisconsin Campus and teach out the M.Ed. / Ed.S. program in Administration & Supervision and the Ed.D. degree program in Educational Leadership. In June 2015 NLU also notified the Higher Learning Commission of its intention to close the NLU Wisconsin Branch Campus and teach out these programs.

On June 8, 2015, NCE Dean Stuart I. Carrier delivered a detailed Teach-Out Plan to Wisconsin DPI Licensure Director Tammy Huth, sustaining NLU commitments to all current NLU Wisconsin Branch Campus M.Ed./Ed.S. degree candidates with courses scheduled through Spring 2016. The NLU Wisconsin Branch Campus teach-out also sustains its course scheduling commitment to Wisconsin candidates in Ed.D. program in Educational Leadership.

These actions do not impact NLU non-licensure programs offered in Wisconsin with the approval of the Wisconsin Education Approval Board (EAB).
