MENTAL HEALTH PARITY AND DE-STIGMATIZING MENTAL ILLNESS

Thursday, February 11, 2016 * 5:30-6:30PM
National Louis University * Chicago campus
122 S. Michigan Ave. * 2nd floor Atrium

In 2014 Illinois launched the Kennedy Forum Illinois focused on building a statewide coalition to implement Mental Health Parity in all aspects of the community - including health care and insurance. This coalition of leaders and participants is working with providers and stakeholders to ensure that people are talking about the epidemic of mental illness so that we can prevent tragedies from happening because of social isolation or stigma.

Presented by Teresa Garate, Ph.D.<http://www.anixter.org/anixter-center/about-anixter/president-ceo>, President and CEO of Anixter Center, one of the largest nonprofit organizations in the Chicago area serving people with disabilities. Dr. Garate will highlight the importance of working collaboratively to ensure that people with mental illness are identified and that appropriate services are provided.
