Dear NLU Colleagues,
NLU's Applied Behavioral Sciences Program is pleased to invite you to the first event in our Speaker Series: Cornerstones of Communities, Speaking Peace, Taking Action. Stephen Jackson, Founder and President of Global CommUnity Associates, will lead off our series on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 6:00pm (Chicago campus - Atrium). Stephen will address The 4 CornerStones; Building Global CommUnity. The presentation will be followed by a PEACE CIRCLE.
Stephen Jackson, a popular youth mentor and advocate, is currently in the news as the District 200 School District Board President and other Board and Community members have launched the Stephen Jackson Clemency Project, a bid to petition Gov. Bruce Rauner to pardon Jackson so he can work full time as a mentor at OPRF High School, a position he held through Oak Park Township before he was terminated last year. Stephen's 12 years of incarceration facilitated the creation of his engagement process, and his Restorative Justice work is well known and highly regarded in the Oak Park community and throughout Chicago. He is a dynamic speaker and circle keeper.
We would love to fill the atrium with students, faculty and staff to learn about and support this important work being done in our communities.
We hope to see you there!
Mary Kelly
