Earlier this month, NLU and Community High School District 214 signed an agreement allowing high school students to receive NLU college credit for taking certain D214 education and business courses. The Daily Herald published an article in today's Arlington Heights edition featuring this new dual-credit partnership. Attached is a pdf of the article, not yet available online, or we invite you to read the NLU blog post here<http://blog.nl.edu/2015/12/nlu-high-school-district-214-agree-to-provide-college-credit-streamline-path-to-4-year-degree/>.
At the signing, President Megahed told D214 administrators and students that she hopes the agreement will shorten the path to college for high school students and make college more affordable for them.
Each high school course translates to five quarter hours of credit at NLU. By also taking honors classes and credit by examination, students can accrue a quarter's worth, or even a year's worth, of NLU college credit. Those taking education courses also have the opportunity to student teach. Community High School District 214 has six high schools and serves a northwest suburban area with 250,000 residents.
