Eight media outlets around the country published NLU's "Tips for Parents to Prevent Kids' Summer Brain Drain."  Dr. Seema Imam and others teamed with NLU's Communications team to compile tips for parents who didn't want their children to experience summer learning loss.  Six newspapers, a news website and a TV station picked up the story.  See them all here.

The Daily Herald and Chicago Tribune both ran articles about NLU's "Educator Prep" partnership with northwest suburban High School District 214. Students in D214 high schools who commit to a teaching career can receive a sequence of courses in education, plus internship and observation opportunities and dual-credit classes with National Louis University. Those who attend NLU are guaranteed a student teaching position at D214 or one of its feeder schools, as well as a job interview if there is an open position.

The Naperville Sun and Patch.com heralded NLU's powerful CPSA Commencement speaker, Brenda Castile-Munoz. On the day she received her M.S. in Written Communication degree, Brenda relayed her powerful "35 years later" story. Brenda presented her play, "Hope Deferred," at NLU's Playfest on August 6.

ABC7-TV News, Chicago Tribune and Chicago Citizen covered NLU's Reach Awards gala fundraiser in May. The television station got footage of its own anchor Karen Jordan, who emceed the event and introduced the speakers. The awardees included former U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan; NLU alum Matthew King, M.Ed., executive director of Epic Academy College Prep Charter High School; alum Jacqueline Samuel, Ph.D., senior program director for Claretian Associates; and alum Amanda Leftwich, a 2012 graduate of NLU's P.A.C.E. program, now a teacher's aide at Laurance Armour Day School.
