Dear NLU Community,

Tune in Monday, November 30 as Toby Rajput, assistant professor teaching in NLU’s Reading and Language program and youth literature librarian at NLU’s Center for Teaching through Children’s Books (CTCB) appears on “Good Day Chicago” at 8:45 a.m. on WFLD Channel 32 for a brief segment.

Rajput, who compiled the Holiday Gift Recommendations 2015 list at www.nl.edu/holidaybooks<http://www.nl.edu/holidaybooks>, will explain why diverse books, i.e., books which show diversity among people, help children both see themselves and develop empathy for others. These are important tools for the young in an increasingly diverse and interconnected world. She will bring a few diverse books to the TV studio.

You’re also invited to view www.nl.edu/holidaybooks<http://www.nl.edu/holidaybooks> for gift book recommendations, aimed mostly at parents and other adults who will be buying gifts for children. Please feel free to share it widely, by email, social media or other means.
