Hello NLU Faculty and Staff!
You are invited to help us with an important service project for the homeless. As part of the NLU Month of Service, the Wheeling campus will be making waterproof mats on Thursday, May 5 from Noon to 2:00PM, in the Wheeling campus lobby. We will be joined by a volunteer from St. Edna's church in Arlington Heights to teach us how to make the mats.
The project involves cutting plastic grocery bags into strips, tying them together to form "yarn," and crocheting the yarn to form the mats. Participants can choose to just cut bags or they can learn how to crochet.
Please bring bags and scissors if you have them. If you wish to learn to crochet, then bring a crochet hook size M or N. Participants may volunteer for as long as they would like. To learn more information about the project, visit: http://www.stedna.org/parishLife/groups/MatsfortheHomeless.
If you have any questions about this Mats for the Homeless project, please contact Danielle Colletti at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
We hope to see you there!
Thank you,
Danielle
